A Change For This Blog
I have had this blog since 2006, as you can see from the only other post on here. From January 1, 2013, I am going to try and keep this blog up with my thoughts on the LDS scriptures, starting with the Doctrines and Covenants since that is the standard work being studied in Sunday School during 2013.Since I am starting there, how about a little background.
Joseph Smith, Jr was born on December 23, 1805 in Sharon, Vermont. He was the third son born to Joseph Smith Sr and Lucy Mack. He had five brothers and three sisters. On a bright and beautiful spring day in 1820, Joseph, having questions of religion, knelt in prayer and asked the Lord which church was the right one. Joseph received a glorious vision of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, who told him, among other things, that the true church was not on earth at that time. Three and a half years later, an angel named Moroni appeared to Joseph and told him of a book, written on gold plates, that years later Joseph would translate and bring forth the Book of Mormon. Acting under God's direction, Joseph Smith Jr and five other men officially organized the Church of Jesus Christ on April 6, 1830. Through Joseph Smith Jr, a latter-day prophet, the Lord has restored many eternal truths. Joseph and his older brother, Hyrum, were killed by an angry mob at Carthage, Illinois, on June 27, 1844. John Taylor wrote, "Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." (D&C 135:3).
I am looking forward to this and I hope that everybody will follow my blog during this year.
